Rob Pomie is a senior lifeguard and an accomplished athlete with a string of impressive titles to his name. In 2007, he was the overall individual champion in the gruelling Bribie Island Multisport, a 100km race that sees relay teams and a select few super-fit individuals complete 55 km of mountain biking, 22 km of running, 23 km of kayaking and 1.6 km of swimming. Just two months later, at the Coffs Coast, his four man team ‘Whippets’ came third in the arduous 200km Mountain Designs Geoquest; Australia’s premier adventure race. This year his open men’s outrigger team won the annual Powerade Hamilton Island Cup, the second time Rob has been a part of the team that has claimed this title, and he has a number of other titles to his name in short course paddling, cycling and the outrigger one man series.
